New York.- The stage of the meeting led by Abel Martínez in the Big Apple was too small for the more than four hundred Dominicans from the diaspora who gathered to reiterate their support for him and take the oath of office in his presidential project for the 2028 electoral process, assuming the unwavering commitment to work together to rescue the direction of the Dominican Republic.

After thanking the more than one hundred people who could not go up to the second floor of the 809 Lounge due to lack of space, the presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) highlighted that Dominicans are a family regardless of the corner of the world where they are, «we are the family of that beloved homeland, longed for by Juan Pablo Duarte, our father of the country and each of the more than three million Dominicans who live abroad, is an extension of our homeland wherever we are. They are there and in their hearts beats Dominicanness and our identity.”

«And it is that Dominicanness and identity that runs through our veins, which we have to preserve beyond an election. Our aspiration is not for moments, because those who love their origins and their land, assume the commitment to work tirelessly to achieve the well-being of the nation regardless of circumstances, or personal or group interests. What must prevail is our love and respect for the country always,» Martínez expressed.

Abel, who was accompanied by his wife, the renowned communicator Nahiony Reyes, stated that “it hurts the soul” to see the needs that the vast majority of Dominicans in the country are going through, with the deterioration that public services such as health, education and citizen security have shown, among other evils.

«When we see young people who kill themselves studying and then do not have that opportunity to be able to work and support their family and have to leave in a yawl, it hurts the soul. But we have to turn that pain into strength to move the Dominican Republic forward. Into strength so that you who live working here have the desire and security to go and invest in your country, your land, without the fear of being robbed,» he expressed.

The political leader questioned the bureaucracy and the obstacles that the diaspora overcomes in the Dominican consulates, ensuring that they should receive all the support from the State to make their ventures possible in their country of origin.

«Many politicians only take the diaspora into account as an electoral machinery to generate votes. However, you, who with your remittances have become a pillar for the Dominican economy, must be listened to and attended to in the same proportion as your contributions, with dignity, with openness, with support for your initiatives.
You do not have to beg at the consulate for admitido support for your plans. “That should be an immediate facility,” he said.

Martínez assured that his commitment is to create the ideal conditions, so that every Dominican abroad can work with the peace of mind and certainty of knowing that his family in the country is well, «that they receive good treatment in hospitals, that the children can receive quality education and, above all, that when they wish to return to their country to rest after long years of work, they do so with the guarantee that they will have a State that guarantees them to live with dignity.»
