American singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty to one count of affrayfor a violent altercation occurred in a London private club in 2023. The guilty plea came on Friday, July 24, at Southwark Crown Court, after the most severe charges of assault and serious bodily injury were removed.
The “Forever” singer appeared at the London court wearing a beige suit, gold-framed sunglasses and a St. Louis Cardinals cap. As he left the venue, some fans came up to show their support and chanted his nickname “Breezy.”
Brown (37 and his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolualso known as HoodyBaby, accepted responsibility for the crime of affraya legal figure in the United Kingdom that applies when a person uses or threatens to use illegal violence in a manner that could cause fear for the safety of others. The hearing in which both presented their statement lasted less than five minutes. The sentence will be announced on October 26.

What are the details of the altercation?
The case dates back to February 19, 2023when Brown was accused of starting a fight at the private club Tapelocated in Mayfair, an exclusive area of London. The alleged victim was the music producer Abraham Diawwho had been a friend of the singer.
According to British prosecutors, Brown hit Diaw twice in the head with a glass bottle during the incident. Prosecutors said Akinlolu later joined in the attack and hit the producer in the head, while Diaw was also kicked while on the ground. After the confrontation, the victim went to St Mary's Hospital in London due to to head and knee injuries.
Brown and Akinlolu had initially pleaded not guilty to more serious charges. (for assault and serious bodily injury)in addition to a charge for possession of a weapon for crime, related to the bottle used in the incident. However, those charges were dropped when a plea deal was reached on the lesser charge.
The judicial process against the singer advanced to a plea agreement that avoided a trial on the most serious charges.
Giving her arguments, senior prosecutor Claire Campbell, of the South London Crown Prosecution Service, described the incident as a “violent and unprovoked attack.”
Brown's arrest occurred more than two years after the alleged attack. The singer was arrested on May 15, 2025 by Metropolitan Police detectives at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, where he was staying before his performances in the United Kingdom as part of his tour Breezy Bowl.
Six days later he was released from prison on bail of 5 million pounds. Among the conditions he accepted to be investigated for freedom, it was established that he could continue with his international tour as long as You will hand over your passport upon arrival in each country.
